Storytime

Preschoolers Age: 3-5
Thursdays, 9/6 - 9/27 from 10 - 11 AM

No registration required.  

Bring your preschooler to this storytime full of songs, new books, and preschool fun. It is an excellent and fun opportunity for children to hear good stories and make friends.

 

Cook-a-Book

Grades: K - 5th
Saturday, 9/8 from 11 AM - 12 PM

Join Ms. Vicki in this hands-on cooking class for kids.  Participants will whip up some yoummy fun recipes.

 

 

Born To Read Sign Language

Babies and Toddlers Ages: 0-3
Tuesdays 10 - 11 AM
No registration required.  

Communicating with your baby is not just a one-way interaction.  Eileen Truszkowski will teach sign language geared toward babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in this signing program!

P.S. Please bring with three of your child's toys with the child's name attached to each of them.  They will be used in the lessons and we do not want them to get mixed up with the other kids' toys.

Reading Club

Age: Any Child Too Young for Kindergarten

Register in Youth Services Department.

Reading to preschool aged children builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them with the skills needed for future school and life success.   
Participants will receive a reading log to record books read.  Rewards will be given for every 100 books read. Ask for your reading log at the Kids’ Room Desk.

Boys Ages: 10 - 15
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:30 PM

Mentors in this this program will provide positive programming for boys.  The program provides educational and recreation experiences through positive peer mentoring, life skills development, and positive social interaction.  Our hope is that participants will improve in their ability to make better decisions, inspire them to be strong, have a positive self image, and gain confidence.

 

Puppet Pals

Grades: 1st - 3rd
Saturday, 9/15 from 11 AM - 12 PM

Book Scouts

Grades: 4th - 6th

If you like to read, or even if you don’t but have to do it anyway for school, why not be rewarded for it! Join Book Scouts and you can earn cool badges for your reading.  Come to our first meeting to learn more about the fun you can have being a Book Scout.

 
If you already have your Book Scout Kit, be sure to bring it with to the meeting.  If you don't, no problem, you'll get one at the meeting.  See you then!
 
 

Girl Power Book Discussion

Girls Grades: 4th - 6th

When school starts, so does GIRL POWER!  Come and join us to snack and chat as we discover new books and magazines.  You will have a chance to finish a book during our session and then take a new one from our girl-created booklist.  So don't forget to bring your library card.

Come play all sorts of strategy games such as Settlers of Catan and RPGs
(Role playing games).

Grades: 6th to 12th

TEAM Library is our Young Adult Advisory Board where students experience service and leadership opportunities, learn life skills for adulthood, and just have fun together.

Pride Club

Grades: 6th to 12th
Saturday, September 29 from 7 - 9:30 PM

This is an evening out for LGBT+ identifying individuals and their allies.  We'll be watching "Love, Simon" and enjoying some snacks.

The possibility of future events for this group will be discussed.
 
Because this is an after-hours event, participants will stay in the movie room. There will be no library services available. Participants must be picked up promptly at 9:30 PM at the library.

Family Chess

Age: 1st Grade - Adults 
Wednesdays from 5-6 PM

No registration required.  

Come have Mr. Joseph teach you in about 20 minutes how to play chess or just come to play other chess players of all different skill levels.

 

Are you a Homeschooler or a Tutor?

We invite you to fill out our information forms.  
Homeschoolers: Your form will be used to keep you informed of library events that might interest your family.
Tutors: Your form will be used to provide information to library patrons who request to know about local area tutors.
Information forms will be available in youth services.
