1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Reading Club

Age: Any Child Too Young for Kindergarten
OngoingEvent | Any Time The Library is Open

Register in Youth Services Department.

Reading to preschool aged children builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them with the skills needed for future school and life success.   
Participants will receive a reading log to record books read.  Rewards will be given for every 100 books read. Ask for your reading log at the Kids’ Room Desk. 

Congratulations to Savanna T. She is the first child to complete the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge!

Junior Puppeteers

Join Ms. Susan for a fun time making a noodlehead puppet and a Superhero Puppet.
The Matteson Area Public Library District is proud to announce that three students from the library's Junior Puppeteers program won a $250 scholarship from the Chicagoland Puppetry Guild and MAPLD to attend "Potlatch", a puppetry conference in Angola, Indiana.  Congratulations to Devin M., Destiny G., and Charles M

Family Chess (and Trading Card Games) Night

Age: 1st Grade - Adults 
Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM

No registration required.  

Learn to play from our instructor or just play with others to improve your skills.  
We provide the chess boards and pieces; bring your own trading card decks.  
Fun for the whole family.  
 

 

Create A Craft

Age: Pre-School - Adult
Thursday, 12/28 from 2 - 3:30 PM and repeats at 6 PM
No registration required.  

Join us for a variety of crafts for all ages.  Come any time between 2:00 to 3:30 PM & 6 PM for creative fun.

 

Superhero Double Feature

Age: Pre-School - Adult
Friday, 12/29

No registration required.  

Join us for two Superhero movies.
Lego Batman at 12:00 PM (104 minutes)
Spiderman Homecoming at 2:00 PM (133 minutes)
Please feel free to bring dry snacks.

 

Family Quilting

Age: 10-18

Join Ms. Julia to learn to make a 9 patch quilted pillow. Fabric and thread will be provided.  Participants should bring the following supplies to class: a sharp pair of scissors, a seam ripper, and straight pins (preferably with a ball on the end. Please attend all classes.

 

Bingo

Wednesday, 1/3 at 2 PM

Tutors: Your form will be used to provide information to library patrons who request to know about local area tutors.
