Born to Read Storytime

Age: Birth - 24 Months with Adult Caregiver
Tuesdays from 10-11 AM 
 
(No storytime on Tuesday, 12/27 & 1/3.) 

No registration required.

Join us for this first playgroup experience with songs, stories, & baby games.    Daycare groups are not permitted at this one-on-one event.

 

Family Storytime

Age: Families with Kids Age 3-5 with Adult Caregiver
Thursday, December 1st from 6-6:45 PM  
OR  Saturday, December 3rd from 10-10:45 AM
No registration required. 

Bring your Preschooler to the library to enjoy music, books, parachute time, bubbles, scarves, shakers, and more age appropriate fun.  

 

Preschool Storytime

Age: Families with Kids Age 3-5 with Adult Caregiver
Thursdays from 10-11 AM (12/1, 12/8, 12/15 - No storytime on 12/22, 12/29, or 1/5.)
No registration required. 

Bring your Preschooler to the library to enjoy music, books, parachute time, bubbles, scarves, shakers, decorations, and refrershments at our Preschool Parties.  Daycare groups are not permitted at this one-on-one event.

 

1000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Club

Age: Any Child Too Young for Kindergarten
Ongoing Event

Register in Youth Services.

This ongoing reading club encourages all families and caregivers to read at least 1000 books to or with a young child before they begin Kindergarten.  Reading builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare little ones for school.   Participants will receive a reading log to record books read.  Small prizes are given for every 100 books read.  There is no time limit on participation other than that it must be before a child is in Kindergarten.  Register any time by picking up your reading log in Youth Services.

Guys wanted for this new book discussion group!  If you are a lover of comic books & graphic novels, a fan of superhero movies & TV shows, or a reader of fantasy & sci-fi, come hang out and discuss a fantastic book and superhero each month with other super dudes.   Books are available in the Kids' Area and should be read before the meeting.

Girl Power Book Discussion

Age: Girls in Grades 4th - 6th

Winter Reading Club

Age: Birth to 12th Grade
December 1st to February 28th at any time the library is open.

Register in the Kids' or Teens' Rooms.

Enjoy a "filmtastic" winter reading club.  Read library books to earn fun prizes.  

 

Winter Coloring Contest

Age: Kids & teens who can color up to 12th Grade
December 1st to January 31st at any time the library is open.

No registration required.

The library will have all kinds of coloring sheets available for kids and teens.  Color at the library and we will display your artwork for our contest.  Prizes will be given at the end of the contest based on different age groups.

 

Are you a Homeschooler or a Tutor?

We invite you to fill out our information forms.  
Homeschoolers: Your form will be used to keep you informed of library events that might interest your family.
Tutors: Your form will be used to provide information to library patrons who request to know about local area tutors.
Information forms will be available in youth services beginning December 1st.

 

Winter Chess Tournament and
Family Chess (and Trading Card
Games) Night

Age: 1st Grade - Adults 
*Chess & Trading Card Games Night on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM.
*Tournament games may be played any time the library is open between 12/1 and 1/31.

No registration required for chess night.  Register for the tournament in Youth Services.

Learn to play from our instructor or just play with others to improve your skills.  We provide the chess boards and pieces; bring your own trading card decks.  Fun for the whole family.  

Join the chess tournament that goes from Dec. 1st to Jan. 31st.  Play games in the library (chess sets provided) & record your games on the log sheets in the kids and teen areas.  Prizes will be given for different skill groups at the end of the event.

 

Lester's Scavenger Hunt

Age: Kindergarten to 12th Grade
Any time the library is open.

No registration required.

Try a new Lester Hunt each week for  a small treat.  Practice solving puzzles in this scavenger hunt.

3D Printer Overview

Age: Gr. 6 - Adults.  
Thursday 12/29 from 6:30-7:30 PM

Big Kids' Movie: Ghostbusters [2016 version]

Age: Recommended for kids age 10 and up.  Kids under age 10 must attend this program with an adult.
Friday, 12/30 beginning at 1 PM.

Stuffed Animal Sewing Class

Age: 6th - 12th Grades.  Recommended for students with some machine sewing experience.
Tuesday, 1/3 from 10 AM - 1 PM.
Wednesday, 1/4 from 10 AM - 12 PM
Thursday, 1/5 from 10 AM - 1 PM. (Students who are in school this day & do not finish their project by Wednesday can make special arrangements with Ms. Julia to complete their animal.)

The library will supply the fabric, stuffing, and sewing machines.  Participants should bring a pair of scissors, straight pins, and a seam ripper with them.  Participants must attend on Tuesday to continue coming the rest of the week.

 

Disassemble Day

Age: 1st Grade - Adults.  Kids under age 10 must attend this program with an adult.
Thursday 1/5 from 2-4 PM

Take apart old electronics to see what makes them tick.  Tools will be provided but feel free to bring your own safety goggles, pliers, and screwdrivers if you want to.
