Age: Grades 6th - 12th (Students may bring 1 adult with them. Sorry, no adults are allowed on their own.)
Saturday, 10/22 from 10 AM - 4 PM
Register here for Teen Sewing. Space is very limited.
Learn to make a pillowcase using the library's sewing machines. Participant will need to supply fabric and basic sewing supplies. A supply list is below. Participants should bring a bag lunch that does not need to be refrigerated.
Sewing Supply List for Pillowcases
Fabric (required)
You need Quilter’s Weight 100% Cotton (42 to 44 inches wide) The person working at the fabric store/department should be able to guide you to this type of fabric.
1 yard of main body fabric
½ yard of contrast fabric
OR
1 ½ yards of one single fabric if you don’t want your pillowcase cuff to be a different color
A Seam Ripper (required)
Straight Pins (required)
I recommend the type that have a ball on the end because they are easier to grasp.
Fabric Cutting Scissors (not required, but recommended)
These scissors should be very sharp and not used for cutting anything other than fabric.
A Measuring Tape (not required, but recommended)
The type for fabric, not the kind used in construction.
The four items at the bottom of this list can be found in a kit that is approximately $10 at Wal-Mart. Fabric and sewing supplies (sold individually) will be available locally at either Wal-Mart or JoAnn.
