Register Today... Summer Reading Launches Tomorrow!

It's time! Altadena Library District's Summer Reading programs, for everyone from babies through adults, launch tomorrow, Saturday, June 2! Register through the online platform called Beanstack (if you registered online last year, use the same login credentials this year!), and start tracking reading, collecting stamps, and earning prizes. Our summer calendar is full of fun activities and events embracing this year's theme of "Reading Takes You Everywhere." Click here to view our offerings and mark your calendars!  Once you've signed up online, pick up the special printed Summer Reading Passport for your age level from the Main Library or Bob Lucas Branch to enhance your experience!

Truck Day & Children's Summer Reading Kick-Off

Rev your engines, turn on your lights and sirens, and grab your hardhats because it's time for Truck Day! Our Second Annual Truck Day  will be held in the Altadena Main Library parking lot on  Saturday, June 9 at 10:00am  to kick off our Children's Summer Reading program. Join us for a morning of fire trucks, construction equipment, crafts, and signing up for summer reading, of course! You'll be able to sign up online (with staff assistance as needed) and pick up your passports so your children can start tracking their reading right away.

Adults, Summer Reading Is NOT Just for Kids!

Adults have their very own Summer Reading events and activities this  summer! By tracking reading, completing library activities, and attending events, you can earn stamps in our adult passport; when you earn enough stamps, you'll be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the summer where you could win a $150 Amazon gift card!  Adult Summer Reading launches  Friday, June 22  with an adults-only  Trivia Night  at the Main Library. Sign up your trivia team of 6 today!

June's Seed Library features Food Forward

On Saturday, June 2, at 10:00am, come learn about Food Forward's flagship program, Backyard Harvest. As anyone who spends even a little time in Southern California knows, fruit trees are everywhere and can yield hundreds of pounds of fruit in even one backyard! Food Forward collects surplus fruit and distributes it to local hunger relief agencies. Learn how you can get involved!

Friends of the Altadena Library Annual Meeting

You're invited to the Friends' Annual Meeting on Monday, June 4, at 7:00pm . After a short meeting to elect officers for 2018-2019, there will be a demonstration and concert by The Hutchins Consort, a special group that plays on the eight scaled violins designed and built by luthier D. Carleen Hutchins (hutchinsconsort.org). This event is open to the public, and refreshments will be served!

Don't Miss the LAST Second Saturday Concert of the 2017-2018 Season, AND Our First Dance Class!

The final Second Saturday concert of the 2017-2018 season is upon us, and we're going out with a BANG! Join us on Saturday, June 9, at 6:00pm before the concert begins for a special swing dance class led by The Connected Dancer (www.theconnecteddancer.com). Then put your moves on display when the talented Crown City Bombers take the stage around 6:30pm and thrill the audience with their rockabilly sound! Food and beverages will be available for sale, and there will be plenty of space on the dance floor for guests of all ages.
