Seeking Applications for Poet Laureate for Altadena Library District!

April is National Poetry Month, and poets in our community will be celebrating in a special way. The term of our current Altadena Library District Poet Laureate, Dr. Elline Lipkin, is coming to an end, and we are seeking applications for our next Poet Laureate!

The Poet Laureate for the Altadena Library District is responsible for organizing poetry events throughout the year at the Library, organizing the annual poetry reading, and serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Altadena Poetry Review Anthology.  CLICK HERE for a detailed description of the role and responsibilities, as well as application requirements. All applications are due March 31, 2018 at midnight Pacific Time.

Save the Date for the Poetry & Cookies Celebration

Sunday, April 29, from 1:00 to 4:30pm (with a break from 2:30 to 3:00pm)

Join us for one of the largest gatherings of poets in our community! Hear many of the poets in the brand new Altadena Poetry Review: Anthology 2018. This event is free and open to the public with free refreshments, cookies, mingling with poets, books to browse and buy, photo ops, and more!

Bring your inner Sherlock Holmes to this classic game of whodunnit! Using the rules of the board game Clue, teens will find the guilty suspect! The winner receives a small prize.

Gather with friends and enjoy a variety of board games (including Apples to Apples, Jenga, chess and much, much more), party games, and video games on our Playstation 4, WiiU, xBox One, and Nintendo Switch!

"Build Your First Website with HTML & CSS" Workshop

Tuesday, March 20, 6:30pm at the Main Library

Want to learn to code? If you're already well-versed in the basics of using a computer but don't have any prior coding experience, join us for this introductory course on HTML and CSS, presented by Pasadena High School's App Academy. 4x4 Art Workshop: Zine Making with Alma Rosa

Join Chicana writer, spoken word poet, community organizer, and zine-maker Alma Rosa to learn about the world of small-circulation, self-published magazines called "Zines!" There are still spots available – register today to  4x4art@altadenalibrary.org !

Don't Miss the Kids Drive-In Movie!

Monday, March 19, at 1:00pm

Toddlers, preschoolers, early elementary students, and children with special or sensory needs are invited to decorate their own cardboard car and then ejoy a family-friendly movie! Car creation begins at 1:00pm and the movie will start at 1:30pm. Bring a snack and a friend, and "drive" on in!
