Happy (Early) Halloween from Altadena Library!

Our shelves are filled with materials for all seasons, including Halloween titles for all ages. So light up your jack-o-lantern, munch on your trick-or-treating candy, and enjoy these spooky titles on Halloween night!

For Our Littlest Readers-to-Be:  Hallowhat? by Alan Benjamin; Pictures by Sal Murdocca - Each page of this scary board book offers a riddle and a visual clue that encourages young readers to identify the Halloween creature than can be found in the image!

For Early Readers:  Creepy Monsters, Sleepy Monsters by Jame Yolen; Illustration by Kelly Murphy - Creep, gurgle, crawl, tumble! Meet two young monsters who are far from scary - they're too busy having fun. They go to school, play outside, and eat after-school snacks. But they also have a bedtime, whether or not they're ready for it! Enjoy this rhyming read-aloud about the snarfing, growling, snoring way they monsters go to bed.

For Elementary Readers:  Ghosthunters & The Incredible Revolting Ghost by Cornelia Funke - Timid nine-year-old Tom Tomsky reluctantly agrees to help professional ghostbuster Hetty Camomile dispel an IRG (Incredibly Revolting Ghost) from an old house, while also dealing with the ASG (Averagely Spooky Ghost) in his cellar and his pesky sister Lola.

For Tweens:    Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - This New York Times Best Seller will thrill anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows. A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in this unforgettable novel.

For High Schoolers:  Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith - "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." So begins this expanded edition of the classic Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem.

For (Brave) Adults:  It by Stephen King - Now a major motion picture, Stephen King's terrifying classic #1 New York Times Best Seller follows seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they first stumbled on as teenagers... an evil without a name: It.

And one more for after Halloween is over...

Year of No Sugar: A Memoir by Eve Schaub... Need we say more?
