Happy Autumn Equinox - Fall Is Officially Here!

The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting crisper (finally!), and the Library is getting busier!  Our Taste of 'Dena celebration tomorrow launches a plethora  of fabulous fall events for patrons of all ages and stages throughout October.  Get these dates on your calendar ASAP:

  • Ready to brush up on your basic computer skills or know someone who needs to learn foundational computer skills? Techies-in-Training launches the first week of October in the FabLab on Wednesday mornings at 10:00am. From those needing help with basic computer navigation to those delving into Microsoft Word, send computer beginners our way - call (626) 798-0833, ext. 117 to register!
  • On select Tuesday evenings in October and November, join experienced news professional Dean Lee for the #BeTheMedia workshop series that will break down the many aspects of citizen journalism. Space is limited - register early!
  • Every two seconds someone in America gets a blood transfusion. Five million patients will need blood this year. Join us for Friday Bloody Friday, a blood drive at the Library on Friday, October 13 from noon to 6:00pm and save a life!
  • Explore your creative side at Crafting a Poem, Crafting a Book, an interactive poetry and book-making workshop on Saturday, October 14 at 1:30pm. Facilitated by local poet and author Genevieve Kaplan, guests will write their own poems and compile them into small books made out of just one sheet of paper!
  • Get rid of your old Halloween costumes and pick up some new (gently used) ones! Drop off your old Halloween costumes at the Main Library starting now, and then come back on Saturday, October 14 at 2:00pm for the Halloween Costume Swap.
  • Our famous Second Saturday Concerts will also launch on Saturday, October 14 with Upstream, SoCal's premier Reggae band! Click the image below for more details...

Mark your calendars -- You don't want these educational and enriching opportunities to pass you by!

This very dish won 1st place at the L.A. County Fair's "Everything Bacon" competition just last week! Is your mouth watering yet?
