Put on your party hats and dancing shoes -- it's time for Growing Up 'Dena!


After months of anticipation, Altadena's biggest celebration of the year is finally here! Tomorrow (Saturday, June 10th) from 10:00am to 8:30pm, music, dancing, activities, and fun will be had by all at our Grand Reopening, Summer Reading Kick-Off, and 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Program of Events

10:00am - Welcome and Summer Reading Kick-Off Interactive, hands-on learning experience with Mad Science and performance by John Muir High School Drum Corps

11:15am - A Musical Spectacle by Chroma - A classical music adventure with sketches, singing, mime, dance and comedy for kids of all ages

12:00pm - Ribbon Cutting Program - Presentations by Library Director Mindy Kittay, Board President Ira Bershatsky, California State Librarian Greg Lucas, Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Congresswoman Judy Chu, Senator Anthony Portantino, and Assemblymember Chris Holden

1:30pm - Hip-Hop Dance by Antics - An urban dance performance featuring hip-hop music, street dance, and spoken word poetry

3:00pm - Business Passport Prize Drawing

3:30pm - Concert by Lead Vocalist of Santana, Andy Vargas & Souleros - A special live appearance by Andy Vargas in his own music style "Souleros," a mix of traditional Spanish/Latin ballads (Boleros) with R&B Soul

6:30pm - Second Saturday Concert with The Satisfaction Band - A lively concert with a unique blend of popular dance music that includes Top 40, Latin Rock, R&B, Cumbias and Oldies
