It's time to Learn, Laugh, and Create this October at Willard Library! Great programs for all ages continue this
month at both Library locations. You'll find all the resources you need on the shelves, or in our digital library!
As part of the celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Willard Library presents award-winning storyteller David Gonzalez. David is great at engaging the audience and teaching us a little Spanish all while providing a small insight into the Latino culture. He is a professional storyteller, poet, playwright, and musician. He has performed at the National Storytelling Festival.
Hear award-winning writer Jack Gantos talk about his writing and his life. He has written books for readers of all ages, from picture books and middle-grade fiction to novels for young adults and adults. His works include Hole in My Life, the Joey Pigza series, and the Rotten Ralph series. His books will be available for purchase.
True crime authors Blaine Pardoe and Victoria Hester return with another book about an amazing chapter in Battle Creek's history. The Original Battle Creek Crime King tells the history of Adam "Pump" Arnold, who was both feared
and regaled in Victorian-era Battle Creek and called "the greatest criminal in the history of Battle Creek."
Kathleen "Kat" Tedsen will present her investigations into several hauntings in Michigan just in time for Halloween. Tedsen and her sister, Beverlee Rydel, go beyond the myth and find the truth behind reports of hauntings. The sisters have written three books in their "Haunted Travels of Michigan" series. Tedsen will answer questions. Her books will be for sale, and after her talk she will sign them.
Adam Mellema plays all the characters in his stories, including an original tale about the boogieman and a sort of true story about trick-or-treating. He sings, he dances, and he has the energy of 10 cheetahs. His exuberant storytelling style will leave you feeling merry, not scary.
