Visit Willard Library or the Helen Warner Branch in May to take advantage of great free family programs! There's something going on this month
for kids of all ages. Adults can pick up the latest fiction, learn new computer and technology skills with a one-on-one appointment, or tackle a
new project with our how-to books. Be sure to visit the library this month for one of the following events:

Amy Haimerl, author of Detroit Hustle: A Memoir of Life, Love, & Home, will share her experiences of restoring
an abandoned house in Detroit. The memoir is filled with amusing and touching anecdotes about a community
of Detroiters she and her husband met as they renovated a 1914 Georgian Revival house and came to love the
city. Books will available after the talk, and Haimerl will sign them.

Hear award-winning writer Jack Gantos talk about his writing and his life. He has written books for readers of
all ages, from picture books and middle-grade fiction to novels for young adults and adults. His works include
Hole in My Life, the Joey Pigza series, and the Rotten Ralph series. His books will be available for purchase.

Youngsters in fifth through seventh grades are invited to get comfortable in Willard Library's Teen Room.
The program will start in the Children's Room to explore books and resources of interest to this age group.
Then, they will transition to the Teen Room to discuss resources that would be of interest to them as they
advance to new grades. The fun night also will feature food, games, and prizes.

Enjoy an activity time specifically for preschoolers featuring stories, songs, crafts, and movement
with a different theme each week.

Indiana writer Kristine D. Adams will facilitate the interactive, multi-media presentation that will explain
various techniques to write memoirs. The workshop is structured to encourage participants to write
about moments in life. Whether travel stories, life challenges, or personal insights, everyone has a story --
learn how to tell yours.
