Take Your Child to the Library Day |
Celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day with Willard Library! Visit the Children's Room downtown or the Helen Warner Branch to learn more about the
great programs and services Willard offers. DYK: Children 5 years old and older may get their own library card. This is the perfect day to bring your kids to get library cards. For those who already have library cards, stop in and check out some books, DVDs, or Playaways.
While supplies last, families who visit the library on Feb. 5 will receive a canvas tote bag containing a plush stuffed animal to read to; the book, “Pete the Cat Checks Out the Library;” and supplemental resources to enjoy at home.

Operation Spring Cleaning: Organizing Your Genealogy Stuff |
Everything is perfectly organized, said no genealogist ever! Megan Heyl will offer tips to organize the genealogical “stuff” you have collected from photos, paper, to
paraphernalia. She will discuss what to keep and what to toss. In addition, she will share methods for digital organization.

'Sister in Arms' With Kaia Alderson |
This year’s African American Celebration will feature Kaia Alderson, author of “Sisters in Arms.” In the virtual presentation, Kaia will share her research and
inspiration for her debut novel, answer questions, and do a short reading.
Her novel reveals the untold story of the Six Triple Eight, the only all-Black
battalion of the Women’s Army Corps, which made a dangerous voyage to Europe to ensure American service members received word from their loved ones during World War II. Kaia has a passion for discovering “hidden figures” in African American women’s history.
She holds a sociology degree from Spelman College and a master’s degree in education from the University of West Georgia. She honed her writing
chops at the Hurston/Wright Foundation’s and VONA’s writing workshops..

Take and Make: Oriole Feeder |
Be ready for the return of orioles in the next couple of months. This stringed platform provides a nice spot to display orange slices and the jar is perfect for holding orioles’ favorite grape jelly. While you wait for spring, you may fill the feeder with wild bird feed for wintering birds.
