Janet Good...Oh How We Will MIss Her
Janet Good has had an impact on Summit County Library. She gratefully encourages 27 volunteers to show up each week at the North Branch Library where they shelve books, assist with children’s programs, set up the meeting room for activities and transport books for the Friends of the Library book sale.
She is a staunch advocate for the Friends of the Library and received support from its members to start the Travel Slide Show Series. “I thought the Friends could provide an armchair travel program that was popular at the Ohio library where I worked,” said Good. The series started in January 2001 with five or six Friday night programs. Sixteen years later it is still going strong! “The series has gotten to be so well known,” said Good. “Photographers now come to me and ask if they can participate,” she added. “The room holds 100 people and we’ve had standing room only for several presentations,” she said. “Janet will continue coordinating the Travel Slide Show Series,” said Joyce Dierauer, Executive Director of Summit County Library. “The programs have great attendance and we are serving a need among local photographers and interested travelers,” Dierauer added.
