Join Us for Summit Reads' Mental Health Wellness Panel
The 2017 Summit Reads Community Project hosts a mental health wellness panel discussion focusing on the Community Book Choice, Show Me All Your Scars: True Stories of Living with Mental Illness, edited by Lee Gutkind. Tonight the panel occurs at the North Branch Library from 6 pm to 7 pm. The location is 651 Center Circle, Silverthorne, CO.
Show Me All Your Scars: True Stories of Living with Mental Illness, speaks to the challenges and successes of living with mental illness. During the panel attendees will learn about Summit County programs that are helping residents with mental illness and substance abuse. The four presenters will discuss their programs and share their professional experiences.
The speakers include Andrea Brown from Mind Springs Health and Safe Haven Detox and Respite Center, Skye Dayne and Sheila Brockmeier from NAMI High Country Colorado and Sheriff Jamie Fitzsimmons from Summit County Sheriff’s Department.
Andrea Brown works for Mind Springs Health and Safe Haven Detox and Respite Center. She will speak on the programs and services that help people with mental illness and substance abuse in Summit County.
Skye Dayne is representing NAMI High Country Colorado and will share the local NAMI programs and services. She will also share her experience with mental illness living in Summit County.
Sheila Brockmeier is representing NAMI High Country Colorado and Mental Health First Aid. She will speak about programs and services from both organizations.
Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons of the Summit County Sheriff’s Department will share how law enforcement and detention work with people suffering from mental health issues.
