Hummingbirds of Costa Rica and Ecuador
Presented by Matt Shetzer
Tomorrow, Friday, February 17, 2017 the Friends of the Library Travel Slide Show Series presents, “Hummingbirds of Costa Rica and Ecuador” with Matt Shetzer showcasing his journey through regions in Ecuador and Costa Rica in search of, as he referred to them, “some of the most beautiful hummingbirds in the world.” The presentation begins at 7 pm in the Blue River Room of the North Branch Library. Admission is free.
“Ecuador has over 120 species of hummingbirds, and Costa Rica, has 50 species,” said Shetzer. “They both offer unique hummingbirds such as the Sword-billed hummingbird, whose bill is longer than its body, and the Violet-tailed sylph, whose long tail makes it one of the most beautiful hummingbirds in the world,” he added. During Shetzer’s presentation he will share his photographic adventure through Central and South American birding lodges, and he will discuss the amazing creatures he photographed and some of the characteristics that make these birds such a delight to watch.
Our remaining 2017 presentations include:
March 3 “Guatemala: A Habitat Build Project and Climbing Acatenango Volcano"
March 17 “The Orangutans of Borneo"
