Today starting at 10:30 am the Main Library in Frisco hosts Preschool Story Time for all children and their parents or sitters. We will be reading about Pilgrims.  Please join us!  

The Summit County Friends of the Library invite you to join us for our annual winter Book & Bake Sale, on Friday, December 2 from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturday, December 3, from 9 am to 5 pm in the Buffalo Mountain and Mount Royal  Rooms at the County Commons in Frisco. The proceeds raised from this event fund library programs and events at all three Summit County Library locations. 

The winter book sale covers two rooms – one for non-fiction and another room for fiction books. Stop by to find that perfect book for your holiday gift giving. We have hard cover books, CDs, books on tape and DVDs.  The book sale hosts a “Bag of Books” time from 3 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, December 3.  Simply fill your bag to the brim with books, CDs, books on cassette tape and DVDs and for one low price you can walk away with reading and listening materials for fireside reading.  

In addition to the reading and listening materials for sale, the Friends of the Library host a bake sale with many delicious treats. Donations of baked goods such as pies, brownies, cookies, cakes and breads are needed.  Please list the ingredients such as eggs, flour and nuts which may affect persons with allergies. Drop off time for the baked goods is by 9:30 am on Friday, Dec. 2 or 5 pm on Thursday, Dec. 1. Helping hands could also assist with take-down and clean-up, starting promptly at 5 pm on Saturday after the book sale. If you are available to help, please call the Main Library at (970) 668-5555.

The Summit County Libraries’ Fourth Annual  Gingerbread House Contest will begin on Nov. 28 and entries will be accepted through December 14.  Entries are accepted only at the Main Library in Frisco.  

We have one rule:  Every visible part of your creation must be edible!  Votes will be cast by the public until Dec. 21. A first, second, and third place will be awarded Dec. 22.  This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.  Start baking your dream house, crazy imaginary structure, or Christmas vision.

All three library locations in Silverthorne, Frisco and Breckenridge will close on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25 in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please enjoy your time with family and friends. We re-open on Saturday, Nov. 26 at all locations. 

The South Branch Library hosts the Classic Film Series starting this Saturday, Nov. 26 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm in the Hopefull/Discovery room.

 Admission is FREE and popcorn and drinks are provided. This month’s movie is the 1944 Academy Award winning Best Picture, Casablanca, which had its World Premiere on this date in 1942. (Rated PG)

Colorado Gives Day is Dec. 6

For the seventh year, Community First Foundation and FirstBank present Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, December 6. This annual statewide movement celebrates and increases philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. The $1 Million Incentive Fund created by the partners is one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country.

The Summit County Library Foundation serves participates in this annual fundraising event. The foundation serves as an advocate for the Summit County Library System and provides financial support beyond the Library's normal operating expenditures, when unanticipated needs arise, and for capital projects.
