Teen Read Week Celebrated

The Summit County Library celebrates Teen Read Week™ from October 9 to October 15. This is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). It began in 1998 and is held annually in October the same week as Columbus Day. Its purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users.

This year Teen Read Week features a multi-lingual theme, "Read for the fun of it!" The theme highlights all of the resources and services available to the 22% of the nation's youth who speak a language other than English at home.

Voting for the 2016 Teens’ Top Ten is now open! Summit County teens can vote for up to three of their favorite titles now through Oct. 15. Online voting is available by clicking on Read more. The North Branch Library in Silverthorne will also display all of the nominated teen books for the Teens’ Top Ten award. The “top ten” titles will be announced the week after Teen Read Week™.
