Publisher's Weekly Review
Lady Jessica Sheffield has seven years and more than 300 pages to sin, and sin she does, with great enthusiasm and in considerable detail, in this erotic Regency. Shortly before her wedding, Jess sees rakehell Alistair Caulfield performing unspeakable but delicious acts with a more than willing lady. She undergoes a sexual awakening, transfers that interest to her husband, and enjoys a happy seven-year marriage until she's left a childless widow. In the meantime, Alistair has reformed and built a shipping company. When Jess decides to inspect her inherited Caribbean property, Alistair manages to get her on board one of his ships, and the two steam up the entire Atlantic Ocean. Day creates sympathetic characters and skillfully weaves in some intense subplots about Jess's abusive childhood and her sister's violent husband. The main interest, though, lies in the extensive and graphic love scenes. (Sept.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
Booklist Review
Jessica Sheffield married Benedict Reginald Sinclair, but Alistair Caulfield is the man she never forgot. The evening before her wedding, Jess stumbled across Alistair entertaining another woman in the garden, and she never forgot it. Seven years later, the now widowed Jess encounters Alistair again when she books passage on a ship sailing for Jamaica. Jess quickly discovers that Alistair has also not forgotten that scandalous night, and he now intends on using whatever tools of seduction he possesses to convince her to finally become his. In addition to an abundance of supercharged sensuality, Day gives her latest sizzlingly sexy Regency romance an added layer of emotional depth in a thoughtful secondary plot involving spousal abuse.--Charles, John Copyright 2010 Booklist
