Summary This work focuses on one of the most unique military units in Texas, and possibly the Confederacy. Company A of the Nineteenth Texas Infantry, C.S.A., was formed in 1862 and later became the core of the famed Walker's Texas Division. Here, major military operations discussed include: Perkin's Landing, Milliken's Bend, Fort DeRussy, Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, and Jenkins' Ferry. The final chapter chronicles many of the men's lives after the war ended, including much civil service and entrepreneurship.
