A native of Iowa, Heather J. Paper graduated from Iowa State University with a double major in Interior Design and Journalism. In 1978 she joined the staff of Better Homes and Gardens , where she served as editor of the quarterly Decorating magazine and managed 20 special interest publications.
After 16 years with Meredith Corporation, Heather left in 1995 to pursue a freelance career that has included writing for such distinguished magazines as Better Homes and Gardens, Traditional Home, Country Home, Southern Accents, HOME, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles and Mountain Living . She has also served as the editor of Haven magazine and written scripts for the syndicated television show of the same name. Heather has penned articles, books, brochures and press releases for corporate clients such as Kohler, Home Depot, Sherwin-Williams, DuPont Corian, Lowe's, and Marge Carson. Additionally, this veteran of the furnishings industry has conducted in-store seminars on a wide variety of design topics and authored Decorating Idea Book and Decorating Ideas That Work for The Taunton Press.
