Summary
Going my way (127 min.): When old and fading St. Dominic's Church gets a new priest (Crosby), things are bound to change. For starters, young Father O'Malley meets the crusty old Father Fitzgibbon (Barry Fitzgerald), who doesn't think much of him or his ideas. The two have their differences but O'Malley is able to inspire some neighborhood roughnecks to open their hearts and minds in a way the old priest simply could not do.

Summary
Father O'Malley is the new priest at the Church of St. Dominic in a working-class New York City neighborhood. He fails to make a good first impression with crusty old Father Fitzgibbon, who doesn't approve of O'Malley's golf playing, baseball game attending, or fishing. But O'Malley starts spiffing up the church and its neighborhood: dealing with the church mortgage, which is in arrears, and straightening out the street gangs by getting the boys to help him start a choir. Romantic matches are made; neighborhood busybodies are appeased. Many songs are joyfully sung, and O'Malley even arranges a big surprise for Fitzgibbon, who's homesick for Ireland.

Summary
Parish priest Father Chuck O'Malley (Bing Crosby back after introducing the affable O'Malley in the 1944 film Going my way) is sent to revive a financially-ailing parochial school and immediately finds himself at odds with the no-nonsense Sister Benedict on how to educate the children. Beyond their battle of wits lies a bigger problem--the skinflint businessman next door wants St. Mary's condemned, so he can build a parking lot for his employees.
