Publisher's Weekly Review
Brain researcher Amen (Wired for Success) presents a program for coping with the complications of aging, in particular memory loss and its related challenges. Amen insists that a regimen of exercise, diet, and spiritual care can be effective in allowing seniors to live a full life and avoid what are widely thought to be inevitable regressions. Each chapter explores an aspect of life that requires particular care during the golden years of life, including nutrition, mental wellness, physical health, and spiritual fulfillment. Using a combination of clinical and lay language, Amen provides mental exercises and an array of workout routines intended to guide readers into a healthier, happy later-life. Amen sees a powerful spiritual component to aging healthily and recommends Bible readings and prayers alongside his medical advice. Although some of the mental exercises are difficult and will require discipline, but Amen insists that rigorous attention to the plan's prescriptions will do much to help readers overcome even genetic predispositions. Amen's easy-to-follow book will appeal to those looking for practical ways to combat the ravages of age. (Nov.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
