Along with mentioning time-travel tricks (crossing the International Date Line, or pulling a Rip Van Winkle), Hunter answers this Top Secret series' title question broadly. He tackles Einsteinian physics, string theory, black holes, wormholes, UFOs, time-travel paradoxes, dark matter, CERN's subatomic wonders, and even literary and fictional travelers like Marty McFly. Whew! In keeping with such ambitious scope, the pages of this small volume are crammed with photos and digital art, explanatory captions (in an oddly washed-out typeface), side boxes, and Investigation Tips for young science detectives. The discourse is, unsurprisingly, only ankle deep, but readers will be swept off their feet by the flood of big ideas, cosmic theories, silly speculations, and tantalizing hints of awesome scientific discoveries waiting just around the corner.--Peters, John Copyright 2016 Booklist
