Rock Island Grange
By Foghorn,stringband,
EDITORIAL REVIEWS
Comprised of Caleb Klauder and Reeb Willms, based in Portland Oregon, along with Stephen "Sammy" Lind and Nadine Landry, now located in Pointe-à-la-Croix, Quebec, The Foghorn Stringband continues to bring joy to its audiences by playing the music they love. Rock Island Grange is the bands 9th release since its beginnings in 2000. In classic Foghorn style, the album is packed with old-timey traditional fiddle tune and song gems, familiar and not, that the band has always loved. The album was recorded live inside of the Orcas Island Grange Hall, a historic building on Orcas Island in Washington States Puget Sound where Caleb grew up. The band was completely at ease playing in the warm, natural acoustics of the hall drawing inspiration from classic Foghorn repertoire as well as newly worked up material.

I Be Trying
By Burnside, Cedric
I Be Trying might be the title of the new record from two-time GRAMMY nominee Cedric Burnside, but it's also a mission statement in an era when plenty of us have discovered what "the blues" really means. Recorded over three days at Royal Studios in Memphis (the home studio of Al Green and Hi Records in the 60s and 70s) , this album is the ultimate statement of purpose for a critically acclaimed artist who has proudly carried the mantle of Mississippi Hill Country blues around the world. Over thirteen tracks, Burnside delivers his bruised but unfettered truth over blistering guitar and deep pocket drums-a sound birthed in his soul but developed and perfected on the road. But no matter how far he travels, the righteous sound he makes could only come from one place.

Dance Songs for Hard Times
By Band, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn
The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band are the greatest front-porch blues band in the world. They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider to be the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour and David "Honeyboy" Edwards. The band has built through their legendary live shows. Playing as many as 300 shows each year, the band has one of the most dedicated followings out there. This following is sure to eat up the band's latest offering, Dance Songs For Hard Times, a country blues record that was made the right way - two feet on the ground and both hands getting dirty.
