About the Author

T. Jameson Brewer, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Social Foundations of Education in the Teacher Education Department at the University of North Georgia. His teaching experience spans from the middle school, high school, undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he was named as the 2016 Outstanding Doctoral Student. He completed a M.S. in Social Foundations of Education from Georgia State University, and a B.S.Ed. in Secondary Education of History with a minor in Anthropology from Valdosta State University where, in 2016, he was named as a Distinguished Alumni of the James L. and Dorothy H. Dewar College of Education & Human Services. Additionally, he serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Educational Foundations and serves as a Scholar at Harvard University's Scholars Strategy Network. Jameson was named as the Fieldale Scholar award recipient in 2019 for the College of Education at the University of North Georgia His scholarly work has been published in the peer-reviewed journals of Education Policy Analysis Archives, Educational Studies, Critical Education, the Peabody Journal of Education, Critical Questions in Education, the International Journal of Play, Policy Futures in Education, Pro-Posições, the Journal of Family Strengths, the Australian Educational Researcher and others. His work has also appeared at the National Education Policy Center, the Progressive Magazine, the Huffington Post, the Washington Post, and Education Week. He is co-editor of the book Teach For America Counter-Narratives: Alumni Speak Up and Speak Out (Peter Lang, 2015) which has received attention and acclaim from NPR's Marketplace, NPR's Code Switch, NPR Illinois, The Daily Beast, Jacobin, AlterNet, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, The Washington Post, NonProfit Quarterly, ReThinking Schools, The Brookings Institution, Teaching for Change,Atlanta Blackstar, Esther Cepeda's nationally syndicated column, and was named as a Teaching for Change Favorite Book of 2015.
