De madrugada, echado en la cama, debatiendose entre el sueno y la vigilia, un hombre solitario medita, evoca escenas y ajusta cuentas con el pasado. Por su cabeza merodean recuerdos, en ocasiones fugaces, de su juventud, de su carrera como actor, de la relacion compleja con su padre y del papel de las mujeres en su vida. La figura paterna aparece de modo recurrente en muchos de esos episodios lejanos: ese padre que formo parte de la tripulacion de un bombardero en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, ese padre que tenia una novia muy joven, Felicity, con la que tambien el mantuvo una relacion, formando un triangulo que acabaria desembocando en tragedia... Una novela crepuscular y elusiva en la que se filtran pinceladas autobiograficas, un testamento literario por todo lo alto, que viene ademas precedido por un bellisimo prologo de Patti Smith.

Sam Shepard

Sam Shepard was born in 1943 in Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He moved to New York from California just as the off-Broadway theatre scene was emerging. He has written more than forty plays, of which elev en have won 'Obie' awards, besides collections of stories, prose writing and screenplays. His plays include Buried Child, The Late Henry Moss, Simpatico, Curse of the Starving Class, True West, Fool for Love, A Lie of the Mind, and States of Shock. His screenplay for Paris, Texas won the Golden Pa lm Award at the 1984 Cannes Film Festival and he directed his own screenplay, Far North, in 1988. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Shepard received the Gold Medal for Drama from the Academy in 1992, and in 1994 he was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.
