(In French, with English subtitles) If you were or remain a fan of William Friedkin’s movie, The French Connection (remember that one?  Gene Hackman, Fernando Rey, and so on and so forth), you may like The Connection, another look at the same drug trade, but from a French perspective.  Jimenez seems to revel in the styles of the 1970s, but don’t let that keep you from this action film, as good guys go after very bad guys in this cops versus drug dealers film.  These are very high level and powerful drug lords, and they will stop at nothing to get their heroin from the Asian market to New York City and other cities beyond, wherever they can make money.  It’s an ugly world out there, with lots of dead bodies and very ruthless dealers, ready to do anything to keep the drugs and the money flowing.
