About the Author

David Nolan

David Nolan is a multi award-winning British author, specialising in music and pop culture biographies, covering subjects from the Sex Pistols to Simon Cowell.

He is widely-known for investigating famous myths in music - and if needs be, disproving them. He once tracked down the whole audience of a famous 1976 gig by the Sex Pistols at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall. He wanted to prove how many people really went to a gig that thousands claim to have attended.

He's written biographies on Tony Wilson of Factory Records, Bernard Sumner of Joy Division/New Order, Damon Albarn of Blur, Ed Sheeran and many more. He's also written and produced documentaries on the Sex Pistols, Echo and the Bunnymen and The Smiths. He's won five prestigious Royal Television Society awards for his programme making.

Nolan's only non-entertainment book to date has been Tell The Truth And Shame The Devil in 2015, his account of the trial and imprisonment of Alan Morris - a teacher at his former school St Ambrose College - for historic abuse crimes. The book was serialised in the Daily Mail and was the basis for the BBC Radio Four documentary 'The Abuse Trial' broadcast in 2016.
