Henrietta Martinez Christmas, a native New Mexican, is a well-known genealogical and historical research for the last 35 years; she descends from eleven of the soldiers that came with Juan de Oñate to settle what is now New Mexico in 1598. An award-winning author, she has written several books which relate to New Mexico's small towns and history and over 125 articles, mostly on New Mexico's Colonial Families. In 2013, she received the Historic Preservation Award from the National Daughters of the American Revolution for her work in preserving documents.
