Louise Nayer
Louise Nayer is a member of the San Francisco Writer's Grotto and author of Burned: A Memoir, re-released 2016 by Blue Light Press-- an Oprah Great Read and winner of the Wisconsin Library Association Award. She co-authored, with Virginia Lang, How to Bury A Goldfish: 113 Rituals for Everyday Life. She also wrote two poetry books, The Houses are Covered in Sound, with funding from the NEA and Keeping Watch, Blue Light Press. She has published many poems and articles in publications such as Rolling Stone Magazine, OZY, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Wear Your Voice. Louise has given readings and talks all across the country and has been interviewed a number of times on National Public Radio as well as many other radio stations. She has been a creative writing instructor for over 40 years. She grew up in Greenwich Village in New York City. She attended the University of Wisconsin during the turbulent sixties. After finishing graduate school in Buffalo, New York, she put all her belongings in a '68 Camero and drove to San Francisco where she's lived for over 40 years. She teaches at OLLI, UC Berkeley, at the San Francisco Writer's Grotto and runs private workshops at her house.
