About the Author

Christina Waters

Trained in the art of adventurous living, Christina Waters is a fifth generation Santa Cruz native, raised all over the world (thanks to an Air Force dad) , with an academic background and real world experience in journalism, painting, wine-tasting, music, woodworking, hang gliding, trail running, reiki, and organic gardening. Born in Santa Cruz, California, she grew up in France, Germany, Virginia, and California. Instilled with a lifelong passion for travel, she lived in the redwoods before attending graduate school at University of California in Davis. After a brief stay in San Francisco working at SF State, she moved back to her birthplace, Santa Cruz, CA, to finish her dissertation in Jean-Paul Sartre's theory of the imagination. With the PhD completed, she began teaching at UCSC, including Environmental Ethics, Writing for Visual Artists, and a Film course on Digital Dystopias. An accomplished musician, she performs with the UCSC Concert Choir and regularly exhibits her expressionist oil portraits in local galleries. She currently teaches and writes in Santa Cruz. In her spare time she haunts the opera houses of the world.
