It will prepare you to design and build your own pull-behind tiny trailer (or at least consult with someone who can) . And you don't need too much space, just a garage or shared workspace, with basic tools and materials available at your nearest hardware store, or specialty online retailer. Because we all have our own road-trip fantasies when it comes to comfort, style, and purpose, The Handmade Teardrop Trailer will train you up like a pro on the basics of teardrop trailer design, backed up by deep research, sketching, and hands-on experimentation.

About the Author

Matt Berger

Matt Berger is a designer, author, and woodworker in Santa Cruz, California who has a passion for making things from scratch and teaching others how to do the same. Matt honed his skills in woodworking while serving as an editor at Fine Woodworking magazine. He helped bring the magazine online with the launch of FineWoodworking.com, and produced more than 100 videos with makers around North America. Matt went on to produce his first how-to woodworking book in 2014 on the industrial history of the skateboard, with five hands-on projects building skateboard decks representing each decade in design history. His second book followed the same concept, only he took on a much bigger project: building a tiny "Teardrop Trailer" camping caravan based the early 1930s versions featured in handyman magazines. Matt continues to build skateboard decks (and other obscure woodworking projects) out of his garage workshop, aka SK8Makers HQ, and through his series of DIY workshops at makerspaces around the San Francisco Bay Area.
