About the Author

Susan M Parker

Susan M Parker, an herbalist, creator of fine herbal and skin care products and now author, started her herbal business SOLUM&HERBE in 1996. Early experiments with healing clays, solum and plant extracts, herbe, lead to the name to reflect her areas of interest in healing. An herbal apprenticeship with Pam Montgomery in New York in 1992 lead to the formation of the herbal business and her interest in the oils that her first published book, Power of the Seed: Oils for Health and Beauty covers. Born in 1948 in Berkeley California and raised in Hawaii, Susan is intimately connected with the aromatic and healing plants of both West and East coasts.

The book is the culmination of a dozen plus years of her work with and interest in the fixed oils in her herbal business. Needing a reference manual to keep information on the many oils used in her work at hand, she began by self-publishing a booklet on the oils in 2000. In 2013 the original booklet was expanded to include many more oils and greater depth on their chemical make up including the properties that give them their color, scent and taste.

The book, Power of the Seed, coming soon, published by Process Media is an outgrowth of these efforts and her interest in oils.
