About the Author
Elspeth Jackson
Elspeth Jackson has been a lover of crafts all her life but knew she'd stumbled onto something truly special when her mum taught her how to rag rug at the age of 14. She started out by doing what a lot of British youngsters did in the day - she got a degree in a subject she loved (Geography) , moved to London, worked in Marketing for a multi-billion dollar company and travelled the world but she continued to rag rug anything that would stay still long enough throughout it all. In London, Elspeth began teaching people how to rag rug in the evenings and on weekends. A few people soon became a lot and now she has taught over a thousand crafters how to rag rug.In 2014, Elspeth left her job and founded her company Ragged Life (www.ragged-life.com) to sell rag rug homeware, fashion and art full time. She now sells rag rug kits, makes rag rug commissions and runs rag rug workshops across the UK. She prides herself on making rag rugging accessible to everyone and bringing this age-old British craft into the twenty-first century with manageable, contemporary designs. She has established herself as one of the leading rag ruggers in the country and is now regularly featured in craft and lifestyle magazines at home and abroad.
