Tobias Mews is one of the UK's leading adventure athletes and journalists. As well as a weekly columnist for Telegraph Men, he also contributes to all of the major outdoor titles, from Runner's World to Men's Fitness. He's also the founder and editor of online adventure magazine Hard as Trails (www.hardastrails.com) .

'There are easier ways to make a living in journalism,' his mother often says to him. But by a combination of luck, perseverance, and a smidgeon of talent, Tobias has carved a forte out for himself by competing in and writing about many of the toughest and most iconic endurance races in the world.

His thirst for extreme endurance races has taken him around the world. He's knocked off seven sub 3-hr marathons, twice completed the Marathon des Sables within the Elite Top 20, multiple Ironman triathlons, including a coveted 'Black T-shirt' in the Norseman, 'swim ran' 75kms across 26 islands of Stockholm's archipelago in the OtillO, run several times run around Tour du Mont Blanc, including a top 200 finish in the UTMB, mountain biked 800kms across South Africa in the Cape Epic, cycled the length and breadth of the UK, completed the expedition length 530km Godzone Adventure race in New Zealand and recently ran 200 miles along the mountainous spine of Wales in the legendary Dragon's Back Race.
