Delaplaine lives on South Beach, Miami's Billion Dollar Sandbar. He most recently conceived (and is a producer of) the Broadway-bound stage play A WONDERFUL WORLD, the life of Louis Armstrong, as seen through the prism of his 4 (very different) wives. In addition to screenplays, travel & restaurant guidebooks, he writes several narrative fiction series:The JACK HOUSTON ST. CLAIR books are political thrillers based in Miami and Washington.THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES IV follows the great-great-great grandson of the famous consulting detective as he solves crimes from his base at Fleming House, his boutique hotel on Lincoln Road in South Beach. "LONG WEEKEND GUIDES" He also writes several guidebooks for people visiting certain cities for 2 or 3 days and need a short, concise view of the city -- where to stay, what to do, where to eat. As THE FOOD ENTHUSIAST, Delaplaine writes a series of restaurant guides to cities such as Paris, London, L.A., Chicago, among many others. With sister Renee, he owned a trendy restaurant (Scratch) in the Cocaine Cowboy days when South Beach was just getting started in the late '80s; a notorious nightclub (the Warsaw Ballroom) famous for its decadent foam parties during the days when South Beach was more aptly termed Sodom by the Sea; founded, edited and published what is still the longest-running weekly on South Beach (Wire) ; ran a TV show (The Live Wire) and did a whole lot of other things that should go unmentioned.
