About the Author
Linda Schmidt
Growing up in Michigan, my mother and grandmother taught me to sew, knit and craft. My entire family was perpetual Do-It-Yourselfers. After I received my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design & Illustration, I moved to the San Francisco Bay area. There I developed my computer illustration skills. My spare time was spent scouring the Garment District's designer outlets for amazing fabric remnants. I sewed most of my business suits, coats, and lingerie. In the '90s, my husband, daughter and I moved to Wisconsin. There, I worked as a Graphic Designer and Concept Illustrator for a Marketing/Promotions Agency. With rarely a pattern in sight, my sewing focused on items for the home and constant costume requests for my daughter. She was active in theater and modeling. From her imagination, she would design and I would scramble to make them on time. Passing the fabric obsession on, my daughter has become a fashion designer for Ralph Lauren Polo. Hence, my sewing requests are fewer. Now, I work freelance in North Carolina, creating tech illustrations for knitting, sewing and quilting books. My fiber art passion has also added knitting. I enjoy teaching and designing knit patterns that I self publish on Ravelry and Etsy.com/shop/ROFLHatFactory. You can find me on Instagram at ROFL_Hat_Factory where I share photos of my knitting, sewing creations, family and my furry studio buddy.
