This is the story of the adventure of a little boy named Sheldon and his dog, Jet. When Sheldon's best friend moves away, Sheldon spies the word "Jupiter" painted on the side of the moving truck. Sheldon feels sad at first, but realizes that this is a sign - what he needs is a rocket ship! So Sheldon and Jet do some sketching and some scrounging, and, with a wagon full of equipment and supplies, the two future astronauts head to the backyard. With a glop and a wham, piece by piece the ship begins to take form, and soon it's Commander Sheldon A. Flyer and Space Cadet Jet ready for takeoff! The duo jets around satellites, zooms by planets, speeds through space storms, and zips past other flying saucers . . . until plop, they've arrived, somewhere with a green, alien life-form and a furry black blob.

An interview with myself. Russ: Where are you from?Russ Cox: Tennessee. R: Why?RC: What do you mean, why?R: I ask the questions, not you. Just answer it. RC: Um, okay. My family is from there so I guess that is where I was created. R: Interesting. Where do you now live?RC: Maine. R: Why?RC: Well, after living all over the South, my mother, sister, and I moved to Pennsylvania. I lived there for a long time. I met my wife there. We had kids and raised them in Lancaster. Once they were grown, we deiced to head north to Maine. I enjoy the snow and cold. R: That was a very winded answer. You could have said "I like the snow and cold. " Boring!RC: Um, well, er ...Okay, I like the ...R:Next question. What do you do for a living?RC: I write and illustrated children's books. I just had my first book published where I am both the author and illustrator. It is called R: Well, you just messed up my next question. I was going to ask about your book. Are you a little impatient and like the blather on?RC: I don't think so. I'm sorry about ...R: So you have an agent. Who would want to put up with your constant rambling?RC: I really don't think ...R: You got that right.
