About the Author
I am an artist, author, adventurer, and mom. I use simple tools like an x-acto knife and a sheet of black paper to carve out the essential lines of moments and memories from my travels across the world and in my own backyard. I love seeing my books get into the hands of kids and watching that curiosity for the natural world unfold. Through teaching residencies, public art projects, and expeditions, I strive to mix art, natural history, and education. Before falling into the world of books, I was a sailor and a teacher, finding time to draw while perched in the rigging of a tall ship or field sketching birds from knee deep in a tidepool. Then there was running off with the circus and a year spent as a small town post mistress, but those are all stories yet to come. Now I have a life and studio cozied up against the North Cascade mountains in Washingtons' Methow Valley.
