Oksana Kokovkina

Hi! I am Oksana (artistname Makiko) . I am from an artist family and have always been painting or creating. My way as an active artist began around 2007, where I made my first coffee rabbit and started playing around with fiber arts and embroidery. My works are naive, as if they are taken from kids paintings, sometimes a little childish, and romantic. The nature was always my best Inspiration and the animals are very often the protagonists of my works, and in the last couple of years, when we've adopted our wonderful mixterrier "Businka", its mainly the dogs, sometimes as custom ordered portrait embroidery or a fantasy dog. I am always searching and trying new embroidery techniques and applications for my projects, in general embroidery is as a technique works very good for animal portraits, it provides the necessary texture and optics - fluffy, smooth, scruffy or curly dog - all of them can be shown with the thread painting. In my first book "I love my dog embroidery" I am able to combine two of my passions - the embroidery and the dogs.MakikoSee more of Makiko's work at www.makiko.art or on Instagram at @makikoart.
