About the Author

Heather Powers

I'm Heather Powers, the creative force behind Humblebeads. I'm an innovative bead and jewelry artist, creating art beads collected by bead enthusiasts all over the world.

My greatest joy is to inspire others to find their creative voice. Through my writing and design work I hope to encourage others to grab hold of what captures their imagination and spirit.

My inspirations stem from my childhood home on the shores of Lake Michigan and in the woods of my sleepy hometown. Birds, tree branches, leaves, flowers and sundries from the sea reflect the beauty of nature that inspires all of my work. When I'm not looking to nature for inspiration, I study the artwork of artist who find their muse in the natural world. A few of these artists include Van Gogh, Monet and Gustav Klimt.

My work has been featured on HGTV's That's Clever, PBS' Beads, Baubles and Jewels, in bead magazines and books.

I also organize an annual Bead Cruise and run the popular blog, The Art Bead Scene. Visit www.beadcruise.com and www.artbeadscene.com for more information.
