About the Author
Chiharu Rosenberg is a mosaic artist, born in Japan and graduated from Nihon University College of Art. She lives in Namibia, Africa and creates her mosaic mostly using recycled materials, all the pieces are cut by hand, without power tools.

Her work is deeply influenced by Japanese art: beauty of nature without human influence, simplicity, space and balance.
Her other passions are for wildlife and nature.
When not creating mosaic, she is a film coordinator assisting in the production of nature documentaries in Southern Africa. A recent production about Namibia's desert life took 2 years to film. It was shown on Discovery Science as "Mutant Planet" and won international awards.
This work takes her into really wild and remote locations, very close to nature and animals for long periods of time. Alone, surrounded by African wilderness, one can really appreciate the beauty of it.
The process of shaping and placing a tessera (a piece used in mosaic) is very calming and thrilling at the same time. It takes your mind off daily life and places you in a different world within yourself, your imagination, your dream, your safe place.
And the possibilities are endless!
