Renee Sklarew

Renee Sklarew is a native Washingtonian who adores her hometown and spent a lifetime exploring the city's many attractions, both on her own, and with her children. Her two daughters were practically raised inside the Smithsonian museums. Her favorite activity is visiting the National Mall in the evening to see the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials lit up and glowing. Renee loves traveling throughout the United States and overseas with her multi-generational family and has published articles and photos in newspapers and magazines on travel and food. She contributed to the Fodor's Washington DC Guidebook 2013 and 2014, as well as The Washington Post, Northern Virginia Magazine and The Washingtonian, where she regularly writes about destinations in the MidAtlantic region. As the restaurant editor of VivaTysons Magazine, she enjoys sampling the wide variety of international cuisines found in the DC Area. She also blogs about the DMV's best sites for families on MommyNearest.com. Her advice for visitors to Washington DC: wear comfortable shoes (!) and use this guide to help you plan. Be ready for an unexpected squall or festival to deter your progress. If you miss some must-see attractions, please come back and visit again soon!
