When you live in the Arctic in winter, everything is a shade of white. A young girl looks around her home in the Arctic and sees only white, white, white...but one day her grandfather takes her on a journey through the tundra. And at the end of their cold walk across the ice, they find something special that brings color into their world.
About the Author
When she was young, a pen was Danna's favorite toy. She grew up weaving words into silly poems or stories that sparked emotion.She wrote her first poem when she was eight, her first short story when she was ten, and her first picture book when she was seventeen. Of course, it took years of practice and perseverance before she sold her first picture book manuscript to Disney-Hyperion in 2002.Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was exposed to all sorts of creatures through her father who trained, bred, and rehabilitated animals. It was not uncommon to find bobcats, alligators, monkeys, hawks, or even vultures at her home. A love of animals and nature has spilled over into her love of writing. Today Danna's favorite toy is a keyboard. She currently lives and creates at her home in beautiful northern California wine country.*SCBWI member and award-winning author of picture books including ARCTIC WHITE, SWALLOW THE LEADER, MOTHER GOOSE'S PAJAMA PARTY, and many Little Golden Books.
