Joe Silvera is the author of Soldering Made Simple: Easy Techniques for Kitchen Table Jewelers. He graduated with a BFA in Metalsmithing with honors, and then later apprenticed as a goldsmith in southern California. After his apprenticeship, he worked as a model-maker for jewelers in Los Angeles, and sold his own jewelry at fine art galleries and numerous shows across the country. His favorite technique is lost wax casting, with which he likes to carve detailed sculptures of animals, rings, and more. Joe is a popular metals teacher in the San Francisco bay area, with more than 24 years of metalsmithing experience. His classes provide a great foundation in the fundamental skills of jewelry, mixed with laughter, encouragement, and lots of creativity.
