About the Author

Caylie See

After over a decade working with patients in clinical practice as an acupuncturist and herbalist, I wrote this book to address the many questions I was asked every day from expecting women. I heard hundreds of their stories and conducted extensive research to amalgamate the best of Eastern and Western perspectives on the range of symptoms women can reasonably expect to encounter while pregnant, and to formulate insights, remedies, and recipes to help bring women comfort during an uncomfortable and crucial time.

I am a board-licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, founding Vice President of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine, founder of Acupuncture Kitchen clinic, and Executive Director of Integrative Fertility, which provides acupuncture at distinguished reproductive endocrinology centers in the Bay Area. I have seen hundreds of women through their fertility journeys and into successful pregnancies. I've also held teaching positions at esteemed academic institutions, and my research has been published in journals such as The Journal of Clinical Oncology and The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.

In addition to my extensive clinical experience in women's health, I have trained as a doula and attended numerous births. My passion lies in seeing women through the full spectrum of their experience - including and especially the challenging parts. I believe that through uncovering these rocky places lies the very information that women need to feel fully supported and understood.

I am also a mom. While writing this book, I gave birth to my daughter, an experience that has greatly illuminated the pages.
