About the Author

Shadra Strickland

Shadra Strickland earned her MFA at New York's School of Visual Arts in the Illustration as Visual Essay program. She is the 2009 recipient of the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe Award and the 2009 Ezra Jack Keats Award for her first picturebook, BIRD. Shadra currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA.
