Bernie Tobisch

I've been a sewing machine tech for 46 years and consider myself lucky to have found a career that is so rewarding. One of my early observations, was that sewists have a very personal relationship with their machines. I started to see myself as sort of a relationship counsellor, helping people communicate with their machines and also to understand what the machine was really saying when it failed at a task. This led to a class called "Build a Bettter Relationship With Your Sewing Machine". It was a way for me to pass on tips, ideas and explanations, to help create an understanding of what makes the machine tick and how to get the most out of it. "You and Your Sewing Machine" is filled with the information from that class. I really enjoyed writing it and am very gratified by sewist's response to it."Sewing Machine Reference Tool" is a pocket sized, coil bound guide, which focuses more on the troubleshooting information from the first book. Its smaller size, makes it easy carry to classes and retreats to help solve any problems that arise during these events. Just identify your issue from the list and go to the page with the possible solution. For clarity, I want to say that these are not repair manuals. There are so many brands and models over the years, that it would require many volumes to accomplish that. My intention is to offer solutions that fall within the comfort zone of most non-technicians. I sincerely hope these books help all sewists to overcome issues, to understand their machines better and find success in their sewing!
