About the Author

Sara Nephew

Sara Nephew graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI, with an art major. She went on to become trained as a jeweler, and showed her cloisonne' enamel work in national shows. She began her first quilt in 1967, using corduroy squares from her daughter's rompers. In the 80's she began to apply her art training seriously to quilting and in 1984 started a business making and repairing quilts. This was a whole new arena in which to use color and texture and pattern. Quilting took over all of her interest and time. Sara has since originated a series of tools for rotary cutting sixty degree triangles, diamonds, etc., authored more than 20 quilting books using these shapes, and become an internationally known teacher and lecturer. Her company, called Clearview Triangle (see location below) was sold to Marci Baker, another triangle expert. Sara and Marci now write books together. Marci lives in Colorado, but when they get together, they have lots of fun.Sara and her husband Dale now live in Clearview, WA, (married 53 years) . They are surrounded with tall evergreens and big leaf maple trees, their own apple trees and blueberry bushes, and the occasional deer (which are after the apples and blueberries) , raccoons, bears, eagles, and more. She is enjoying her three grown children and her seven grandchildren. And enjoying trying new quilt designs and techniques.
