About the Author
Laura Martone
A native of New Orleans, Laura Martone has been an avid traveler since childhood. While growing up, she and her mother would often take long road trips to fascinating U.S. landmarks, such as the Rocky Mountains and Monticello. After graduating from Northwestern University in 1998 with a dual degree in English and Radio/TV/Film, Laura continued to explore the world with her husband, Daniel. Since 1999, they've lived in Henley-on-Thames, England, ventured to Baja California, and roamed America's byways in a cozy home-on-wheels. While living on the road, they crawled through the twisting tunnels of Kentucky's Mammoth Cave, searched for diamonds in Arkansas, hiked the magnificent Grand Canyon, and sampled the wineries of Napa Valley.
Equally fond of cultural and natural wonders, she has a particular affinity for the state of Michigan, where she spends her summers. When not in the Great Lakes State, Laura divides her time between New Orleans and Los Angeles, where she operates two film festivals with her husband. She's contributed articles to National Geographic Traveler, MotorHome, Route 66 Magazine, RV Journal, and The Ecotourism Observer. In addition, she's written and edited several guidebooks, including Moon Michigan, Moon Florida Keys, Moon Baja RV Camping, Moon Metro Los Angeles, and Insight Pocket Guides San Diego. Her newest traveling companion is her adaptable kitty, Ruby Azazel, who seems to relish the ever-changing scenery.
